New Music: Balter

Hailing from the English town of Northampton is a brand new, super exciting outfit going by the name of Balter.

Consisting of band members Tom Drury, Jake Lewis, Liam Kay, and Jack Cox, Balter is creating considerable momentum within the UK indie-pop scene thanks to their distinctive approach to the genre.

Debut single ‘someone new’ is a captivating track that is not only melodically catchy but is also sonically interesting as it contrasts a playful production with melancholic lyrics.

“This is about the aftermath of a relationship and the overwhelming feelings of loneliness and regret. I wrote this song after a particularly painful breakup, and it’s based around the idea of wanting to change myself in order to be better for them. I wanted to be the ‘someone new’ rather than her finding that in someone else.” – Tom Drury, Balter
